Academy Award Nominee
Pearl is a groundbreaking 2016 VR-animated short—directed by Patrick Osborne—that became the first-ever VR film to earn an Academy Award nomination. Set inside their home, a beloved hatchback, Pearl follows a girl and her dad as they crisscross the country chasing their dreams. It’s a story about the gifts we hand down and their power to carry love. And finding grace in the unlikeliest of places.
Pollen developed “No Wrong Way Home,” a featured song performed in different contexts by father and daughter, with music shifting between radio, soundtrack, and diegetic in-car performance. Technically, they integrated object-based, head‑locked stereo, and ambisonic audio to create a smooth, immersive experience.
